Sospesa is a bespoke bookcase designed and custom-produced for a young Milanese editor-in-chief.

The irony of its name, meaning "Suspended", reflects a desire to play with contrasting design codes and visual languages, beautifully juxtaposing artisanal craftsmanship with industrial materials.

The bookcase is modular, featuring soft, flowing lines that create a striking contrast against the robust nature of the shelving and the load-bearing framework. The gently curved shelves cradle the books, alternating to create a dynamic interplay of solids and voids.

Born as a private commission, the piece was developed in direct dialogue with the home’s interior architecture and meticulously brought to life by skilled artisans. Sospesa seamlessly integrates into the entryway: two identically shaped shelves extend into the transition zone, functioning as an elegant catch-all tray and an integrated coat rack.

The structural material palette combines lacquered MDF, steel, and iron, while custom inserts provide a final, sartorial touch.
